The Thanksgiving after my cousin died from AIDS. He was always the life of the dinner table, making everyone laugh and telling great stories. It just didn't seem right having Thanksgiving without him.

The thanksgiving that I had a two week old baby and couldn't go home. My mom left two days before Thanksgiving. My ex-husband even took the two-year old and went home. My oldest child stayed home with me. What a lonely day in a new city!

There shouldn't additionally be a query approximately the place you husband belongs on each holiday, and that's with you. are you able to start having holiday journeys at your place? it particularly is thoroughly unreasonable on your better half's mom's traditions to supersede your wellness and nicely being. If something of the kin won't be in a position to be sure that, they have a severe psychological challenge, and in case you tolerate that cr@p out of your husband so do you. How approximately your better half's mom is composed of your place the day beforehand and you men initiate a sparkling fur-loose custom? what's somewhat significant here...human beings or made up traditions? in any different case you could stay a martyr/doormat and experience sorry for your self. i'm an authority in feeling sorry for myself, and that's a depressing thank you to stay. do now not enable your self get sucked into that. The kin is your, your husband and your little ones. something are extraneous.

2 years ago, when my boyfriend and I were invited to my oldest son's house for Thanksgiving dinner. My other two older children were there along with my ex husband and his girlfriend.
It was clear that my oldest son had been drinking before we got there and he kept making mean rude comments to me about me and my family the three hours that we were there.
The rest of the family just sat around and kept quiet and chose to not talk to me or my boyfriend. We hadn't even said anything to make anyone mad at us.
Finally I had enough and we got up and left. As we were leaving my ex's girlfriend piped up with "Thanks for coming".(it wasn't even her house). Needless to say the day was ruined and I cried the rest of the way home.
A few days later my son called and asked why we had left so soon and when I told him I didn't like the way we had been treated he claimed he didn't know what I was talking about.
