I've heard that once it was considered to make a movie showing Don Corleone's rise to power, between 1920-1940. It would be juxtaposed with a modern day Godfather's struggles in New York, likely with Andy Garcia's character following the action of Godfather III.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Mario Puzo is no longer with us. It was his writing and Brando's acting that made the first movie, It was Coppola's directing and DiNero's acting that made part two, which completed the Puzo original story. The only bad thing about another movie is that it has no where to go. The mystery is over. We know who, what, when, where and mostly why. Anything else is like adding on a trailer home to the White House lawn. Come to think of it....The President IS from Texas. Maybe if Scorsese directed.

Very bad idea considering one and two were the only ones taken from the book, I'm a huge fan of The Godfather movies they are my favorite, but #3 was total trash....let the godfather rest in peace!

It's going to be very interesting to see how they will get us to believe that anyone is Marlon Brando even if it's supposed to be a YOUNG version. Making a movie to bring you up to date on what was already great has really only been successful for one thing: STAR WARS. It's funny that one person mentioned the Karate Kid. The first time I ever saw Hillary Swank was in Karate Kid 3. She's now a 2 time Oscar winner.

Sounds good but Marlon Brando MADE the Godfather complete...it wouldn't be the same without him. Only the first in the series was good.

Noooooooooo!!

The original was GREAT, the second one was VERY GOOD, the third one sucked...

If you did a fourth you'd have to get a completely different cast because none of the originals (those who are still around) would do it, and that includes the director.

I compare it to the ALIEN series, after the first two they should have left it alone... Same goes for ROCKY and THE KARATE KID.

Just my opinion... :)

Nope we should just leave it for what it was. The first two were good but the third sucked. Still They were all done by the late Mario Puzo and adding on another would just seem tacky.
