are there dna the same as a identical twin?

As the mother of identical twins I hear these types of questions alot:

1. Identical twins are from the same fertilized egg which splits. They have the exact same DNA which means their blood type is also the same.

2. Fraternal twins are from two different fertilized eggs. They are brothers/sisters who happen to be born at the same time. Biologically, they are as similiar as any other brothers/sisters. They could have the same blood type but they may not. They will not have the same DNA.

Hope this helps!

Fraternal twins are just like regular brothers and sisters only they were born at the same time. They started off as two totally different eggs. The mother ovulated multiple eggs and as a result more than one was fertilized. Which is why fraternal twins are heriditary - the ovulation. If you are a fraternal twin or your mother is, then you are likely to have fraternal twins.

Now identical twins are more of a freak of nature (sorry if i offend any identical twins lol) They started off as one egg and it split, like a mirror image. Identical twins are not heriditary, it just happens.

So the answer to your question: Fraternal twins can have the same blood type or not. It's just like siblings born 2 years apart having or not having the same blood type.

Fraternal vs Identical twins
Identical twins have identical dna. They come from the same egg cell and sperm cell. They should have the same ABO blood type.
Fraternal twins are not identical. They are as different as ordinary siblings. They just happen to be born at the same time. They may or may not have the same blood type.

Blood type is decided by 2 alleles. Those alleles are in the form of chromosomes which is present in DNA.

Since fraternal twins do not possess the exact same DNA, they may or may not have the same blood group.

However I would say that the chances are higher. hope that helped

Fraternal twins are as similar to each other as any other non-identical siblings. So, they can have the same blood type, but it is not necessarily going to be because they're non-identical siblings that happen to be born at the same time.

fraternal twins do not have the same DNA as identical twins. they may share similar but not the same DNA. fraternal twins may or may not have the same blood type. same by chance, but differences are possible due to them having 2 separate placentas
