you need to relax properly it's natural to float lie on your back and realx if you feel like you are sinking move your hands under water in a small figure of eight try it

SInking is based on two factors....body fat (which floats) and lung capacity (which floats).
When you swim, your body also acts like an airplane in a way, the motion slides you along the water and keeps you up. When you stop, you need to move your fet to keep your head aove water (treading water). Else the body tend to move down.
If you can keep your lungs filled, you float. Swim and breathe in....then as you release air quickly, you get the head about water and breathe in again.

Be sure to keep your head back. If you pick your head up, your hips and legs sink.
When your arms are down, your legs are below the water. When your arms are like an airplane, your toes come out of the water. When your arms are above your head, your thighs come out of the water. You may have to kick your feet slightly to keep them from sinking.
Be sure to take deep breaths and not to let all of your air out. Your body will float, you just have to relax, keep your head back, and figure out how to balance.

You have to relax in the water, if you're tense you sink. Stick your chest up, lay back and relax the rest of your body, also the more air you keep in your lungs the easier it is.

not everybody floats. no matter how you are built. my dad has always sunk, even as he gets bigger in his old age he still sinks. but ya, you have to work harder than swimmers who float because you have to fight to go forward and up, while the floaters just have to swim forward.

The most bouyant part of your body is just between your armpits where your lungs are and the most heaviest is your legs. Try pushing forcing down on your upper body to get your lower body upright and if you want to float on your back try keep your hips up as much as you can. :)

It depends on how big your lung capacity is. If you have a large one you will float alot easier if you have a small one then you will have to use continuous kicking to keep your body afloat
