and we took our first look at scales far more smaller than the smallest known particle, and discovered a sub-universe with galaxies and solar systems and complex lifeforms. And we realized the universe was actually like one of those Holland dolls where one fits into the other again and again and again- so the edge of our universe would actually end up being the perimeter of an atom on the next scale up?- wouldnt that be facinating?

Actually, a lot of what you are envisioning is happening now. The concept is called invariance and in general it does occur from the astronomical scale to the atomic scale. Instruments are now available which do allow for the indirect imaging of actual electron clouds around individual atoms.

Two types of microscopy are used to achieve this, atomic force microscopy and scanning probe microscopy. The major difficulty with these instruments is accounting for the interference of the probe tips in the data acquired.

Radioactive decay and scattering experiments have also been developed to find some of the answers you are looking for. Nuclear physicists have found that each time known particles are found by theoretical math or experiment to have smaller parts, that the smaller parts usually have still smaller parts within them. Though commonly the divisions are leptons and bosons, and quarks.

So, the two fields of study that may lead to your answers are nuclear physics and nanoscience or nanotechnology.

The electron microscope is a style of microscope that makes use of a beam of electrons to create a picture of the specimen. it somewhat is able to plenty greater magnifications and has a much better resolving ability than a easy microscope, permitting it to work out plenty smaller products in finer element.

Why not, is my answer. After all its not my place to say other wise unless I do have a microscope to do just that.

it sure would be...but like past generation most people would think that scientist who discovered it crazy and not listen to him.... that would be kool though i mean according to quantum mechanics there are at least 2 dimension in our world and wat ever path we take in this path we take the opposite in the other..it's like proton and anti proton. so if in this world i answer questions on yahoo answers in the other world i would think that was stupid and not answer questions.
