crossing over to tj Mexico yes but if your going more into Mexico past tj and more into Mexico city you'll need to get a visa and you could get that with you passport . once i went way pass Mexicali on my way to nogalos and the immigration officer gave me a hard time for not having a passport and wanted to charge my a lot of money to get one so i just turned around and came back home

yep!

You can take the red trolley (from San Diego) to border then walk across...or you can drive across.

Soon they will be asking for passports to return to US...but right now...you just need ID.

If you are flying into deep dark mexico...then yes..you need passport.

With a proper passport, you can enter and exit at will.
As long as you don't mind the lines.

If you are a Mexican, without any outstanding, warrants in U.S. Probably same for U.S. citizen.
