You may want to rethink this. I took a class in Medical Management that included Transcription. My own doctor told me that more and more doctors are going to computer software that types when they dictate and the future will eventually eliminate the need for transcriptionists altogether.

Billind and Coding is still pretty open for medical office type work.

I still don't have a job. :o)

Best Wishes,

Sue

I hate to be discouraging - but most of the time employers require experience. I took a course and couldn't get a job to save my life in transcription. Some courses will automatically place you, which would be better. The only way I got into transcription was by working in a doctor's office as a receptionist. I bugged the heck out of the transcription department for about a year & they finally let me do the job on a trial basis. Check out www.medquist.com They are the transcription company I work for, and I believe they have a course which they support and then they allow you to take their test for employment. You aren't guaranteed a job, but if you pass the test, you most likely will get one. They are always looking for transcriptionists. Good luck to you!

The other thing you can try is if you know someone in your area that does transcription privately (a small company), they may be more likely to train you. You may have to work in an office for a while, but if you can do that for a small amount of time, it is worth it in the long run. I had to work in an office for a year before I got to go home to work, but I was glad I did it.
