This is going to sound biased (and it most likely is) but I'd say Toronto right now is doing very good under Paul Maurice.
And that list is got some okay teams but what about Buffalo, and Anahiem, Atlanta, San Jose? Those are the teams that are really tearing up the league this year. Sure Pittsburgh and NY Rangers and Dallas are doing Ok but not nearly as good at the other teams I mentioned.
As for best player, really hard to say they have some great up and coming stars, such as Malkin, Crosby, Ovechkin, etc.
Who is the best player in the league right now? I am really inclined to say Shanahan as he has lots of experience and is having a great year, but it's really all a matter of preference.

None of the people or teams you mentioned. I vote for Ovechkin of the Caps and Thornton and Cheechoo of San Jose for players. As for teams, how could you leave out Buffalo, Anaheim and Minnesota???
