Heparin is a blood-thinning medication; it is usually prescribed for patients with a history of Deep Vein Thrombosis, as your cousin's symptoms suggest. Your cousin has a greater risk of hemorrhage than pregnant women who have no need to use this medication. She must be closely supervised by a doctor, preferably an Obstetrician that specializes in high-risk pregnancies. Of course, she shouldn't stop using this medication unless the doctor specifically instructs her to do so, because the risks of developing a blood clot which would put her life in danger, and her pregnancy as well.

Low dose, low molecular weight heparin or Lovenox can be okay. While it is true that your cousin may be at increased risk for hemorrhage, most women taking the medication will do fine. If she has a known clotting problem, then she is at greater risk for developing a life-threating blood clot if she DOESN'T take the medicine.

heparin is quite safe and can be continued till the 9 th month and the effects are immediately reversible.
no adverse effect on the baby
i know from experience that if the condition is not detected and no medication is given the result is a miscarraige.
dont worry it is quite safe

It is normal for women to take an anticoagulant in pregnancy but in Australia heparin is not used in pregnancy as it can harm the baby. We use clexane instead. Get her to speak to her doctor about it.
