The public health system, for all its good intentions, doesn't work
in its' present format. There is lags, and the wait times can be
horrendous. I'm all for private clinics that complement the public
health care sector. These clinics should be used by people for
critical situations when the lag in the public system is too long. I
think they can wait for non-critical care. Private clinics should be
used when absolutely necessary. The difference in cost between
a private and public clinic for the same procedure should be
paid by the individual, while the government picks up the rest of the tab, since that individual is probably paying into the public system anyways in terms of tax dollars.
