Easiest method to manage defragmentation is by means of putting in an automated defragmenter. It will run within the heritage and defrag as fundamental whilst the procedure is idle. Unlike with the useful resource-hogging scheduled or handbook defrag, you'll be able to use the PC whilst computerized defrag is walking. Since you do not must supervise it, you additionally retailer time. A good defragmented force plays bigger and has an extended lifespan on the grounds that it does much less paintings, so you'll be able to prevent untimely hardware substitute fees. Automatic defrag is helping to preserve the force defragmented on a steady foundation.

Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter.
Something I do is create a notepad document (start, run, notepad).
Type:
defrag c:
defrag d:
defrag e:
Save as defrag.bat on the desktop.
Then you can run the defrag.bat program and it will defrag all your drives automatically.
PLUS
You can add it to scheduled tasks (look up on yahoo or google if don't know how to do) and your computer will automatically defrag itself.

you forgot to add what your operating system is (Windows 98 or XP or??)
click on - Start - All programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmentor
a window will pop up - (if you're using WindowsXP) - click on Defragment button
you might want to edit your question and add what OS you're using or go to the Help section (Start - Help & Support)
good luck

Here's what you do...
1. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter...
2. (TIP) Click on Analyze to check if your system needs defragmentation. This is useful because it keeps us from wasting time doing it unnecessarily...
3. You also need to have 10 - 15 % of your Hard Disk free...
Let me know if you need anymore help...
