OK, if West Virginia loses to Pitt (which they are as of halftime), Rutgers is in the drivers seat in the Big East. They (Rutgers and W. Virginia) play 12/2. If Rutgers wins that game, (and the beat Cincinnati, which is pretty much a foregone conclusion) they will be 11-0, and the champs of what has turned out to be a pretty tough conference. (Who would have thought we'd be calling the Big East a good conference after Viginia Tech, Miami, and Boston College left?)

OK, so my question is this. Does RU deserve a shot, if they run the table, at the Fiesta Bowl against the winner of the OSU/Michigan game?

No doubt that the winner of the OSU-Michigan game will got to Arizona to play for the National Championship. I'd just hate to see a one-loss team from a "stronger" conference (aka the SEC or the PAC-10) get a title shot before an undefeated one.

Why the disrespect on the Big East. I hate that. Yes, the conference took a hit when UM, BC, and VT left, but we still have three teams in the top 25 (Rutgers, WV, and Louisville).

Well, moot friggin point now anyway. Way to be, Knights. Oh well. Thanks to all that answered and here's hoping the BCS gets it right and makes it OU-UM in the Fiesta.

I dont think they deserve a chance at the title. I think other 2 loss teams may still be considered a head of them. It would be a great story and maybe could cause the end of the BCS if it happens.

i think what these people saying about rutgers not deserving a chance to play for the national title is BS, should they go undefeated.

I think the conference champion should always play for a national title. If the loser between OSU and Michigan gets to play for the national title thats a miscarriage of justice and everything about the BCS is a joke. I think more reward should be giving to conference winners. So the loser should drop to at least 5th. USC lost to Oregon St an unranked team. They should be out. No team ranked that highly in the BCS should never play for a national title championship if they should lose to an unranked team regardless of the fact should they win their conference. Notre Dame doesnt even play in a conference. Even if they beat USC they still have one lost. Rutgers is undefeated. The SEC is the hard one. They all have one loss and if you can escape the SEC with only one loss then thats pretty damn good. So hopefully whomever wins the SEC championship has 2 losses and Rutgers gets to play for the title. It would be poetic justice. Even if they had an 8 team playoff system Rutgers would not be a guaranteed a playoff spot so there goes the idea of a playoff. Boise State would also be knocked out of it.

Yes. The winning percentage of the Big East is relatively the same compared to the PAC-10 and the SEC. They also have 3 string teams, just like PAC-10 and SEC. If any team from the PAC-10 or SEC went undefeated, they would get a shot. The only thing holding Rutgers back is the coaches poll.

Going 11 and 0 for any team at anytime is not an easy feat. But the thing is could they beat any of the top ten teams in the BCS pole. I think they should get a shot at the championship,if they go undefeated and they beat a great Louisville team. At least they deserve a chance to prove themselves on the national stage. It could be another Cinderella story. I believe they could beat either team if they can get another great mistake free performance. Yeah they deserve a shot.

No they're not gonna beat W.V, and they had a cupcake schedule outside of louisville/W.V
If they beat W V then i would consider them 2-0 ...
and by the way, the SEC is the best conference..period. If Rutgers was in the SEC conference they'd be lucky to win 2 games

Utah performs BYU they are interior a similar convention. An undefeated Penn State crew will be ranked a million or 2 so that they might get in Assuming the Utah BYU winner is undefeated they does not get in over a a million loss SEC or massive 12 crew. both conferences are harder than the Mountain West convention. Boise State out of the Western Athletic convention is interior a similar boat to boot as Ball State from the MAC. The BCS convention communities will continually get the nod over the communities from the smaller conferences

It would be a great story and I hope it happens (so the BCS will be proved wrong again) but if they win out they wont make the championship game. Just because of the Big East is kind of weak.

as great a story as rugters has been...same can be said about the big east...they're no unc and they're no florida. rugters has two wins to show on their schedule....louisville and west virginia(if they win). florida plays in the sec so everygame is great. usc is going to start to play all its great games now(cal this week and notre dame after that). i think rugters will get a bcs bowl game...but not a national championship chance

i think it depends on the outcome of the ohio st./michigan game.if its a blowout, then Rutgers should get there respect but they have to beat WVU still and they are still a very good team. but i think everything depends on the big game this weekend.
