All the old Motown stuff from the 60's...the Temptations, the Crystals, Martha and the Vandellas, The Four Tops. These don't bring tears to my eyes, but I have great memories from then. I also still love the Allman Brothers, Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton, and BB King. The song that brings tears to my eyes is a newer song, "Here Without You" by Three Doors Down. It makes me think of my late husband.

This question will have you reading song lyrics for weeks to come. True songs that strike home for me are songs that remind me of something meaningful in my life.
In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride
If You Could See What I See by Geoff Moore and The Distance
Friends by John Michael Montgomery
Life Ain't Always Beautiful by Gary Allen
I don't know if any of these will hit a spot for you but for me they are great lyrics and have a deep meaning.

Moon River. I know this sounds corny but I actually dance when I hear this song. To me, it is full of longing. It implies a dreamer, dreams, longing, searching, the hope of some reunion even if it is with "Moon River and Me".
Better stop here.

oh wow, ok theres a song by Daphne Loves Derby called "Pollen and Salt".
its a beautiful song, acoustic, and has sad lyrics.
used to bring tears to my eyes when i would think about my best friend passing away from a car accident last year.
here are the lyrics...
You've left me with such a silent world,
Where evenings are calm, but I'm restless
And my breath has become as thin as the wind.
Not even the mighty sky could fill the space you left behind
Not even when it rains.
No, nothing takes your place
Your emptiness too great to fill.
I have been holding my breath,
For too many nights in a row,
And somewhere on coastlines unknown to me
You paint your dreams,
With reds and blues and greens.
Yea you're painting daffodils by the sea,
Without me.
Today in a breeze I sensed your perfume
But you were nowhere near.
And in reverie,
I felt you holding me.
And even in my dreams I shake from the fear
Of truth being swept away
By the rhythm of the waves I whisper in your ears.
I have been holding my breath,
For too many nights in a row,
And somewhere on coastlines unknown to me
You paint your dreams,
With reds and blues and greens.
Yea you're painting daffodils by the sea,
Without me.
I would give away
The sweetest memories,
If I could just be with you again.
Be with you again.
I have been holding my breath,
For too many nights in a row,
And somewhere on coastlines unknown to me
You paint your dreams,
With reds and blues and greens.
Yea you're painting daffodils growing by the sea,
Without me.
Last night I dreamt you were with me,
Finally I could breathe.

The song "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. He wrote it to grieve the death of his five-year-old son. He sings about the pain of separation and how they will be together in heaven. Sad stuff
