A brand-new female friend met me yesterday and called, and invited me out to lunch today. I took out time from work to meet her at the restaurant she picked, and waited there an hour. It changed my entire day and was kind of a waste. This evening I got home from work and didn't see her number on my Caller ID. I phoned her and asked what happened. She sounded stoned and said she was sorry, "this isn't the real me", and that she not only did stand me up, she didn't even call before the appt to tell me she wouldn't be there.

She then went into this sob story about her dog and how some medical problem of the dog was what threw her day off. The problem with the dog was not serious, and the dog's fine.

Well, this woman still wants to be friends with me and apologized profusely. But she struck me as kind of weird from the onset, and I think her not even calling to warn me she wouldn't be at the place was an *insult*. I want her un-friended. Should I dump her as a friend?

This girl sounds like she has a lot of issues. I don't think you should dump her as a friend but I would suggest putting your energy into other friends who won't ditch you.

My advice is to not let this young lady take advantage of you the next time around and just kindly decline her invitations. Take the classy approach and you will come out the better person. Good luck!

Give her another chance. If my dog has a little scrape on them i get upset. Just give her 1 more chance to show you that shes a real friend. Only 1 chance though. Giving her more will let her know that no matter how many times she screws up youll be there. Good luck. =)

I usually trust my first instinct. If she seemed weird from the get go, she probably is. On the other hand, I have some great friends now, where if I would have gone on first impressions, I might not have!

dump her but dont lose her. anyone who brakes up, whether they are doing the dumping or not, still wants to be close to that person even if your not intimate still, at least you can be friends. I know when i broke up with my boyfriend that i almost died when he didn't even say "hello" when i tried to start a conversation.

I think you should dump her as a friend because what if you were doing something else really important than she would have took you away from someting really important for no reason.

Well, I would still be her friend for now & wait & see if she does it again. If she does then you may just want to stay "casual" friends, nothing close or anything, or just let her go.
