I hit my knee today on a metal bench at my school and it was red and a little swolen. Now it is not swelling or red but hurts very badly when I put weight on it. It also hurts when I bend my knee and walk up and down stairs . Any suggestions?

There is a tendon that covers your patella (knee cap) and if you hit it pretty hard then you might have bruised the area, internally if there are no signs. I'd suggest putting ice or heat on it and taking an ibuprofen or similar to reduce swelling. Try not to bend your knee and let it rest with your leg out and up for as long as you can.

cold compress for 20 minutes or so. Put protection over the compresses so you won't get frostbite. Take pain reliever see Doc if don't get better.

you will desire to ice it for 20 minutes each and every 2 hours all day to help decrease swelling and discomfort. warmth would advance the pass to that section and in turn advance your discomfort and swelling.
