First, please read the excellent article on exactly this subject at http://www.virtualstampclub.com/inherit.html - it goes into a lot more detail than I can possibly write here. It doesn't matter whether or not you inherited the stamps.
There is a lot of information available on things like locations of stamp clubs, stamp shows, and dealers at http://www.stamps.org - the information there should help you a lot.
Unfortunately most stamp collections are not worth as much as their owners expect. Stamps that were common 50 years ago are still common - if not much money was put into the collection, not much will be gained from selling it. Anyway, please read the article in the first paragraph - it will answer a lot of questions you didn't even know you needed to ask.

You could sell them as one lot for a quick sale and get less money or bunch them into individual lots by country or year. Try ebay.com
