I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure you have to be a high school graduate to be an instructor but i'm pretty sure that they're chill about it, they just want people who can teach. Call around and find out what specific policies are.

An answer to the first part of your question is no problem your age shouldn't hurt you if you could find clients that were ready willing an able to plunk down cash for your services. Around Christmas and all through the Holiday Season parents are willing to due and pay for whatever it takes to ensure that their children were able to snowboard well for themselves and their child's safety. This would be the start of your own personal (Word of Mouth )ski school! If you were professional looking, and really knew snowboarding well, as well as conveying this gift to others, you could make thousands over just the Christmas Holidays. As far as working for a mountain , say like Snowmass, you would have to know all your Red Cross, and be of legal age , just the get the Certification and additional BS, etc., to Instruct, so blow that off until you hit 18 or 21, or whatever you have to be. Until then, start giving snowboarding instruction to anyone, even if it's for free, for the free exposure. That means as others see what you are doing and notice that you are instructing well and kids or adults , are learning, hell they will stand in line to get in an hour for your instruction time.Shazam ! ! Next thing you know IT you are rich! Go with it. Working for yourself is much more fun than working for The Man, any day!

Hey dont listen to rense. all in all its a good idea, but parents will never leave their children with someone who doesn't work on the mountain. I am a snowboard instructor at a mountain in northern california. I am 21 but we do have a couple intructors that start at ages 15 to 16. All you really need to be is at lowest a intermediate boarder, confidence, and the ability to explain simple maneuver like a "j-turn" at least 5 different ways. so someone can understand

That usually depends on the state, not so much the resort... some states allow workers as young as 14.
Once you're authorized to work, your ability to be employed as an instructor will depend on your talent and skills.
