When they cremate someone do they burn the coffins?

Yes, most crematories require a cremation container. That can be either a casket specifically designed for cremation or a corrugated cremation box. I have cremated a solid mahogany casket before though, at the request of the family!!

My mother was cremated and no she was not in a coffin. Her remains were given to me in a metal box which I had buried next to her father. She arranged this before her death and the cost of everything was 2000.00 dollars. Much cheaper than the cost of a funeral with coffin and such.

In Thailand...yes and this normally takes place at a buddhist temple where they have a special cremation oven built for this. While the burning takes place.....funeral guests also line up and one after another they each add white flower to the oven to bid their last farewell to the dead..........

They don't bury them in coffins. Normally the ashes go into an urn (spelling) and sometimes the ashes are spread out on land.

Usually cremains (cremated remains) are put in an urn for the family, & if you are rich you can send it to outer space! In some faiths they are put in a sacred river or place.

Unfortunately, most (if not all) states in the USA require a coffin of some sort, to my understanding!

Me thinks it has to do with $$$ but I cannot prove it.

no . they burn the body on a slab thing . you dont buy coffins , no need for one
