the abundant natural resources, the fact that we weren't constantly at war unlike the european powers, and the size of the country (both land and population). the resources meant industry and commerce could grow rapidly. the european powers were constantly fighting each other, and so spent far more of their money on miltary than america did. the amount of land meant that we didn't rely on other countries for food, and the population meant that manufacturing capacity could grow without restrictions.

1) Industrial Revolution allowed people to produce products quickly and cheaply, which could be exported.
2) Extensive natural resources (grain, coal, metal, etc.) Allowed US to sustain a large population and export to otehrs
3) US under McKinley and Roosevelt started to extend influence globally rather than maintain a nationalistic policy. War ith Spain extended US influence to Phillipines and Carribean
Other countries DID grow, but did theygrow like the USA?

we have a ton of natural resourses including oil its just not enough now. we're isolated on both sides by oceans so we're well protected. our inovations are pretty great too.
