they haven't had sex yet or anything btw. he respects her decision to be a virgin until she is at least 17. it just kindof bothers me that he's 18 that's all.

Hmm. This is a tough one. On one hand, you're her friend. On the other hand, it's (technically) none of your business.

It sounds like you know this is wrong. You know that the age difference is illegal. You know how it looks for an 18 and and 13 year old to be dating. You know they can't have a lot in common.
And if they do have anything in common, it's probably not a good thing. If he is at the mind level of a 13 year old, then that's not good; who wants to be with someone who is that immature?

I can't judge your friend; I was with a 19 year old guy when I was 14. However, my experience was not very good. I won't go into details, but let's just say he was a perfect gentleman...until one night.

Sweetie, just leave them alone and I promise, it will work itself out. Your friend is not a child--13 year olds are maturing faster and faster these days. It is her life and her decision. Just don't encourage her. Act kind of cool and aloof whenever she brings him up. Blow her off when she talks about him--she'll get the point.

You are not her mother. It is not your responsibility. Focus on your schoolwork and be smart enough to date someone your own age. If it truly disturbs you, talk to her mother or send an anonymous note, to the school or her family.

Good luck.

I hope that I'd be able to help you, but before I start I must say that not only it is wrong but it's also against the law. On the other hand I also know that love can happen to anybody no matter what the age differance is. For example; a woman 25yr old gets with a man 45yr old, it's nothing wrong with that even though they are 20yr between them, but they are both adults. In your case it's only 5yr differance between the two, but once the 18yr turns 19yr old, that one could go to jail, and have this on their police record for the rest of their life. Don't get me wrong, love is always better than hate, but this isn't that simple, or that easy. My answer to you is that you should make sure that both know just how much trouble they could get each other into by their actions, unless they'll be willing to wait for 5yr, and if they still feel the same, then and only then, go for it.

aside from the legality of the situation, just keep in mind a couple things please. one, if this girl ends up not liking him anymore, she can totally mess up his life, by calling the cops on him and letting them know they were in a relationship. her parents can do this if everything isnt cool with them. aside from that, five years isnt a huge difference. however, at 13 and 18 it really is. thats a senior in high school and a middle schooler. im sure your friend is totally cool and likes this, that an older guy whos probably pretty cool would like her, but this kid should be her friend, and not try to be anything more. if it goes on beyond that, i would be concerned.

You're her friend, it's your obligation to look out for her, right? What 18 year old could possibly want with a 13 year old??? Seriously?! What do they have in common? Not only is it illegal, it's just plain wrong. You need to report this. There is something wrong with this guy!!!

I understand that you do not want to get anyone in trouble but this is an illegal relationship and he could go to jail. what may seem "cool' is not in this case. They call it "jail bait" for a reason. He should know better. Tell your friend she can't gain anything positive from this relationship and will probably end up pregnant and alone.

Make sure they both understand that no matter who's glad, if they have sex with each other while she's still underage, in the U.S. that's called "statutory rape." Hence the term, "jail bait." I wouldn't take it upon myself to report anybody. But I sure wouldn't be around when anything illegal was going on.

He is commiting a felony! You owe it to your friend to report this immediately- tell a parent, tell a teacher - tell someone.
