while at i was at school school a very good friend of mine was told she looked pregnant. i know that doesnt seem like a big deal, but my friend has been trying for months to lose what little belly she has, and has seen no results. the fact that this kid is constantly harrassing her about it troubles me deeply. she seemed unhurt by the comment, until she left the room. i commented on the power of the slap that she gave him after he said that, and she began to cry. thats enough backstory.

she sat down and started to cry, and the only thing i oculd think of doing was just sitting with her and tried to make her feel better, but seeing as im no Dr Phil, i doubt i really had an effect. basically i told her that there are people like that all over, and you have to ignore them. and i also informed her that she is perfect the way she is, and needs to change for noone. however, i found out a few hours later that he hit her while i was talking to a friend, and that this isnt a first...

well first of all, you sound like a great friend, and a very caring person, and she's lucky to have you in her life. you're doing everything right. so just keep doing what you've been doing with her. believe me, you're helping her more than you'll ever know.
and who knows, you could be the next dr. phil. not trying to be funny, but you are being a great support system for your friend.
I don't even know you, but I'm proud of you for being that for her.

now, about the guy that's hitting her and saying mean things to her, he needs to be dealt with. but don't go getting into a fight with him, all that will do is get you kicked out of school. I'd suggest going to the principal or super at your school and telling him/her what's going on. and ask that something be done about his behavior toward your friend.
until then, just keep doing what you've been doing, you're obviously a great person and a great friend.
Best Wishes with Everything

Well, it sounds like your friend has self esteem issues. I don't even want to tell you what I would do to ANY male that put his hands on a woman in a hurtful way(I don't want you or anyone else going to jail). This jerk needs to be dealt with now though. Either let the principal or a counselor or a teacher know that he is hitting her(she is going to have to do this though, you should go with her for moral support) and take care of him. Let her know God made her the way she is and she is PERFECT the way she is. If it's just a tiny belly, have her try bicycle sit-ups. Those give an entire ab workout and she might lose the 1 inch she for some reason feels she needs to. Keep me posted, because I want to make sure that little puke gets what he deserves.

I congratulate you for standing with her and comforting her when she needs it the most. You are indeed a true friend.

First of all, almost everyone I know go through the self-esteem issue and having the feeling that our body does not meet our own standards. This is a fact of life. Even though you tell her numerous times that she is beautiful and perfect the way she is, she will never believe it because in her eyes she is not.

The acceptance of her flaws should come from her.

And as for the kid who is harassing her, you can confront him and ask him to leave your friend alone. If that does not work, you can inform someone who has the authority to make him stop.

call the friggin cops man, that is beyond harrassment, thats abuse...no one should ever put their hands on another without their consent, much less hit them...this is beyond reasoning with this jerk...get the authorities before something bad happens...

tell her to gain some self esteem and not take that from him. SHe shouldn't let anyone hit her. If she lost weight maybe she would find some self worth....Exercise is good for clearing your head and relieving stress.

Sounds like you wish you would of done more, you still can.
But it may call for being a "tough love" friend.
