Many presidents were not popular during their despot reign, but have found popularity with later generations. For instance Lincoln was hated by many and is now considered one of our best. Not comparing Bush to Lincoln by any means. Thoughts?

Popularity definately changes over time. While Clinton was president, he was greatly favored. He was intelligent and a wonderful speaker. Now, the majority [but not all] of society looks down upon the years of his presidency. In this sense, I think Bush will be praised in the future for his contribution to the American society. He DID quickly retaliate after 9/11 occurred, much like FDR did after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Within 6 months, troops were sent overseas. He has made foolish decisions, but he also has made intelligent ones. Because of this, I think Bush will be viewed as a good president in the future.

I think as years go by and more things are learned about 9/11 and the war in Iraq, he will be seen as the conniving puppet that he is. There is so much more behind the oil prices, the war, the attack on the trade center, the elections and someday it will all come out.

I think the president will be remembered as a sad little man who started a war to attempt to finish something his daddy couldn't. Will he be remembered as a smart man ? Probably not. Hopefully he won't be remembered the same way Nero was - I'd hate to think that Bush fiddled while our country burned.

He might be remembered as the worst president in history, unless somebody comes along and starts a nuclear war, then he will be second worse.

If his goals and objectives are sucessful in Iraq, he could well be remembered as the president that finally brought democracy and stability to the Middle East.

If they are unsucessful - well, he'll just be another trivia question.

I think he will be known as a president who made VERY poor decisions and had the lowest support compared to any other president.

The one good thing is on 9/11, when the guys said "I can't hear you" and he hollared back "well, I can hear you!".....that was tough for a president just starting out, and that was so heartfelt!
