yes it is still around, however it is quite rare. what the ebola virus does to you is the virus activates and releases its own genetic material which causes the host to begin to make its own proteins for virus replication. This replication continues until the cell ruptures and bursts. The virus is then spread to neighboring cells, and continues to reproduce. Basically your body begins to waste away internally.
Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea,changing of skin color, general body pain, internal and external bleeding, and fever
