He is still on there but he is leaving the show soon . He wants out so i think he will be gone soon and I am afraid that will do the show in for me as well. good luck and god bless and happy thanksgiving.

He is, he and Katheryn Erbe, do half the episodes, Chris Noth and Julianna Nicholson do the other half, and they air in alternating order, the last season Annabella Sciorra was Noth's partner and they had all four team up in a couple of episodes.
As to the second team being brought in, it is because during the 04 elections D'Onofrio(supposedly) had a slight nervous breakdown when 'W' won his second term. he held up shooting for 2 weeks and there was talk of replacing him completely with Noth, then he magically got better but the producers set up the alternating teams as a way of keeping him from doing that again, because now that fans are used to Noth being there it will be an easier shift if they need to fire D'Onofrio

Vincent D'Onofrio is the entire reason I started watching Law & Order Criminal Intent. If he wasn't on the show in the first place, I would never have started watching it. I'm not a big fan of the other Law & Order shows. D'Onofrio brought a quirkiness to the role that I just love to watch.

He trades every other week with Chris Noth, so does Kathyrn Erbe. He's going through a rough patch, suffers from something, for the love of me, I can't think of the name of it right now. Probably wake up at 3 am thinking of it.

I think he is taking turns with someone else.
It seems like there are different people on all the time.
I liked it when "Goren and Eames", were together. They did so good together.
