volunteer work (nursing homes or hospitals) other volunteer work is good too. Clubs or organizations you may be in. Church activities, feeding the hungry, etc.

Really, these aren't just things you are making up. It's volunteer work, sports, clubs at school, girl scouts/boy scouts, lessons you've taken outside of school, conferences you've attended (e.g. CYLC), awards you've won at school, honors/awards outside of school, etc. I don't think there's a limit to how much you put on, as long as what's there is meaningful and doesn't sound like a stretch. You want to show consistency...e.g. 6 different clubs each of your four years in high school isn't the same as 3 that you've belonged to each year, consistently, rising to a leadership position in one or more of them.

How about putting down your school, church and community activities for the past few years. I know it might be a novel idea, but hey, give it a try.
