I know this is in the wrong place, o well. How much sleep should the average teenager be getting! My mom seems to like finding ways to keep me up till midnight, i don't like it cause during the day, i get to tired, people sometimes sneak perfume into my school, even though it's a scent free school! I'm allergic to that stuff and one time, my mom kept me up till around 12:00, midnight and in class, i had a headache, my head felt heavy, and i ended up falling asleep, i nearly died that day, i couldn't breath when i fell asleep, and i couldn't wake up, so ya, it would have been my mom's fault for keeping me up! Last night she kept me up till midnight again to make me finish a project that's not due till next month! I don't know what to do! Am I getting any of the sleep i need? How much sleep does the average teenager supposed to get and also, what should i do about my mom, she won't listen to me! But the main question is, how much sleep should i really be getting? Thanks to all those who h

The average teen should be getting 9-10 hours of sleep per night. Research has shown that this is a critical period for teens and their sleep patterns.

Regarding your mom-get your doctor involved, or better yet tell a school counselor. These people are there for YOUR benefit, so use them. Don't feel bad about going over your mom's head. You need help before the situation gets worse, and these people are a good place to start.

Remember to think of your health and your grades in school first. Do everything you can to stay on track and in classes. Good luck to you, and stay strong when dealing with your mom.
She probably means well, but her behavior needs some modification so that she can help you reach your goals in a more healthy way.

Sleep is really important. It's hard to function without it and I at least become like a zombie. You WILL fill tired at school if you do not sleep enough. So how important is it to you? I would suggest getting at least 7 hours a night. Tell your mom that if you are rested you will do better in school.

When you are a teenager, you need alot of sleep. This is proven fact. I took it in a psychology class once and i remember thinking how much i slept when i was a teenage. Perfectly normal to require 8-12 hours of sleep a nite. Tell your mother to lay off cuz you need your sleep.

As I understand it, teenagers typically need more sleep. Eight hours is normal, but some need more or less. As we get older we tend to need less, and can function on as little as four hours.
