A pleasant day with her family and friends.

Does she like to watch TV? Buy her some classic TV shows on DVD. I just bought my grand-mother (84 yrs) The DVD set of "The Odd Couple" and a copy of "My Fair Lady"

Does she do crosswords? Get her some crossword books and maybe a crossword dictionary at the same time...

Find out where she gets her hair done - there's a great gift certificate!! Maybe pamper her with a certificate to get a pedicure, 74 years of standing on those feet - she deserves a foot massage!!

If all else fails, give a gift of pictures of her friends and family, children, grandchildren and put them in an album. It's always nice to walk down memory lane.

Good luck!

Whenever I shop for my Grandma it is always difficult. I finally decided a few years back to start buying her things that I know she will use and enjoy. She loves the National Enquirer so one year I bought her a subscription. I also have bought her 3-4 different magazines like that. She also enjoys crossword puzzle books. Late at night she works her crosswords and eats her bedtime snacks. With the puzzle books I would buy her some of her favorite snacks - cookies, candy, Little Debbies, and crackers. She really enjoyed the gifts and used it more then a sweater or any other type of clothes.

Is this a relative? I ask this because you may be able to buy something more personal like a nightgown or something like that.

Does she have any hobbies? Does she like to read? If so, you could get her gift cards from your local bookstores.

Does she bathe or shower? Go to Bath and Body Works and buy some shower gel or bubble bath. There are some rather nice products there.

Does she like music? What kind? A CD of her favorite artist is fine. Does she have a CD player? Does she like books on CD?

Does she like tea and cookies? A basket with assorted teas and a mug will be rather nice- especially if she lives up north.

I hope these ideas help you.

The first answer was really mean. You should get her a 35 year old man who doesn't need pills. OR tickets....tickets to an opera, a play, a show. They are small don't cost all that much,(depending on the show) and you won't see them collecting dust on a shelf next year. You can take her to enhance the experience and have a great TIME! Aren't you glad you asked?
Your welcome!!!!!

A day of anything she wants to do, shopping, movie, whatever. I nice sweater, my granny is always cold. A nice pair of flannel pj's. If she reads, a book that she would be interested in. If you have access to family pictures, have copies made and make her a large collage of the copies for her memories of her family and life.

Usually, folks this age do not need things. What may be more appreciated is taking her window shopping at the mall, taking her on a lunch date or taking her out to look at the lights and Christmas displays.

A nice, warm, handmade quilt; or make her a scrapbook of photos of her family....or of when she was young. For something practical, a fruit basket with cheese & crackers.
