well, privilege is a set of unearned benefits given to a dominant group...and it usually isnt recognized by the group its given to. which could explain why many ppl think they dont exist. but they do.....and there have been many social experiments and studies done that prove it.
like, as far as white and black...there was an experiment on housing and employment-in which several members of both races called for info on the same apartments and job vacancies (listed in the paper).. and when some of the black callers called, alot of the jobs were "taken"..apartments "weren't vacant" or if they were available, the price was suddenly higher. however when the white callers called, they were given full info on the jobs or housing (and some were even told to come down and see it)

and with men and women...it has been frequently shown that women in the corporate world are taken more serious when they speak with more bass in their voices while talking to men. regardless of their credentials...which is funny-because your pitch of voice shouldnt have that much influence. and of course everyone knows that statistics show men and women with the same level of education and experience have a major pay difference (no need to guess who's paid more)

and as far as homosexuals and heterosexuals....the list goes on. but the most obvious is the right to marriage. alot of ppl think they shouldnt be able to...in some states it has even been made illegal. and what many ppl fail to realize is, by denying that right...homosexual couples do not get the full taxes they are entitled to.... do not get full parenting rights (if one decides to have a baby for the couple)..which also is bad for the child (if the butch one is the one in the couple carrying health care..the child can not be a dependent on it).... if one in the couple passes away, the other is left with the cost of the funeral and bills BUT does not get the insurance money that a LEGALLY married widow would recieve, which usually leaves the companion in debt..while the money goes to the deceased person's family (who, alot of the time, has looooooooong abandoned the deceased person DUE to their sexuality)...

but yeah, the list goes on..in all categories...privilege will always exist...dont see how anyone who lives in this society can say it doesnt.

Nowadays everyone gets pretty much the same rights. It's when a group demands extra rights that problems arise.
