in the present day it is as a lot as state court docket to go back to a call. earlier 3 states allowed it: Connecticut, Massachussetts, and California. Proposition 8 took away that proper in CA. ny would not preform gay marriages even though it is going to understand them. The "next ideal project" in the present day for gays is a civil union. i take advantage of the time period "next ideal project" very loosely right here. It only is different from marriage. so a techniques as i understand, Obama would not help gay marriage. that doesn't mean he will ban gays, it only means he gained't make it a u . s .-huge regulation that gays can marry. it is going to nonetheless proceed to be as a lot because the states.

The Christian Coalition will never leave gay marriage alone. They might even oppose this alternative that I heard in a question some time ago, a non-religious, legal union for homosexuals. But knowing the CC's, or CwC's, they'll find something wrong with that too.

Gay marriage is legal in every single state in the US. A gay man can marry a lesbian woman in any state.

What's currently prohibited in most states is same-sex partnerships having the same legal benefits as opposite-sex partnerships. And that's pure gender-based discrimination.

I agree with you. I don't see the basis for denying them rights. I don't see passing laws to restrict other's freedoms unless their activity is somehow harmful to someone else of infringing on other's freedoms. Gay people getting married doesn't impede my ability to be straight. I certainly don't think my husband is going to say, "Honey when I married you I didn't know I could have married a man so see ya." LOL. The wish to deny it seems to be based on strictly religious beliefs and this seems to violate our belief in freedom of belief for everyone, not just those that believe the same.

No. the reason gays need to legalize their unions is so they will have the benefits of law, which when you get right down to it is why anyone marries. If one dies, his family can take charge of everything, even doing things like refusing to let the partner attend the services or kicking him out of their home or taking custody of the children they are raising --the list is very long.

No it shouldn't be. I think that the underlying tone with the push for marriage is to have the law the same as hetros. I for one could deal with the fact that I couldn't get married but have the same laws as hetros. We are all humans.

I think peopel who are gay should be able to do anything that a straight person does - including marry whom they choose. It's not any of my business who they marry, sleep with, or do anything else with; until they are afforded that liberty, I cannot be sure that my own freedom is safe.

Of course not. If two people love each other & want to share their lives, who cares if they are the same sex or not. It's their lives. They should be able to take care of one another. Such as adding each other to their health insurance.

Yes, if they want to get married they should be allowed. I frankly don't see what all the fuss is about, just let them get married! I mean we have legalized abortion and the death penalty and personally those are far worse than two dudes getting married.
