I sent in my resume/cover letter/headshot last week. If they were thinking about setting up an interview, when would I hear? I'm dreading getting my materials back in the mail, and if I do, is it totally inappropriate to ask some professional advice as to why they weren't interested?

The bad news is, it could be months before they call you. They may not even look at your resume for weeks, or they may look at it and if you have a look they like, categorize it, keep it on file - all without contacting you until they have a campaign or assignment where they think they can use you.

VERY few hopefuls are signed immediately to any model agency.

The good news is, don't be too discouraged that you haven't heard yet. It's perfectly normal.

And you'll find if you are rejected, that most good model agencies would be more than happy to discuss their reasons for doing so, and offer advice. If they are not - they weren't the one for you anyway!

Rejection is part of the industry. If it's what you want, then grit your teeth and persevere. Best of luck to you!

Just getting a NIBBLE is impressive!

If you got a NIBBLE from a REAL agency (not some phoney, pay to play agency like TLC) KEEP submitting on your own, as you must have something.

How tall are you (over 5'8")

Whats your size (0, 2, 4?)

How long are your legs?

If your "package" got a nibble, your "package" must be good

If it's one of those phoney "you can do it, but you need to take our $5,000 class first) then don't be a sucker

BUT if A REAL AGENCY of REAL magnitute had REAL moments for you, then you have something

GO IT ALONE

Eventually find a manager who can help you

SUBMIT to photographers

Ad agencies

DO IT YOURSELF

IF A REAL AGENT was interested then you have potential.

If it's not so, then, no offense, they just wanted to bed you or take your money. Don't take the wrong.

But ANY real person who FLINCHES, that means something.

Understand the business. Everyone is out for sex and money

IF a CHOSER, finds YOUR talent MORE important than SEX, it means your worth money without sex.

If a CHOSER for one moment, finds they have a PROBLEM exploiting you sexually, then YOU have something others don't!

It's means you are POTENTIALLY bankable.

You see, money is more important than sex. Sex they can buy or get. Money, that doesn't grow on trees.

Money moves the world. Money is what you make selling clothes, books, magazines, movies, TV shows.

A magazine sells because of the picture on the cover

Any girl's family can fork over $2K for "lessons"

Many girls will fork over sex to anyone who is a "producer or agent"

Few girls can make $$$ with their pictures on a cover.

A professional knows the difference.

You make a PRO truly flinch, without bedding them or giving them money, you've done something impressive!

That's your lesson in show biz for the day.

That's odd! Professional modeling agencies don't ask for a resume, cover-letter or headshot, they have no use for a resume or cover-letter, think about it! Professional agencies invite prospective models to the office for an interview. Unless you live in New York City, you must be very careful about modeling agencies you contact, as well as, giving them your personal information: Phone, address, photos.

Go to: bbb.org and see if there are any complaints about them in your city.

Unfortunately they will contact you when the spirit moves them. It could be days, weeks, or even months from now. If you get you stuff back in the mail don't loose heart. All that means is that one agent wasn't looking for you on one day. There will be other agents and other days. And don't be afraid to ask for advice!

keep sending your info to multiple agencies.
that way, you'll get more answers and interviews and it'll be more likely for you because you'll have more chances at it.

good luck!
