Check your own University's rules. But I should think you can - you could in any of the three that I know. Can you re-take? If you can't, then it may be harder - you may have to do an extra half-module. You can normally retake - in some universities, you can only get a straight 40% pass on a retake, though.

You need to check how your final marks are worked out. Ask your tutor!

At my uni, the final mark for year 2 is the average of the best 5 units out of 6 studied that year, so the unit in which I had a fail wouldn't count anyway.

yes, you can becasue thats what happend me! It just means you have to work extra hard in your thirdd year. I did, my score was 59.5, the lowest score possible to get a 2:1! Then again, it depends on your course and how many credit points that module was worth. I think I was VERY lucky
