They're constantly adding new ones. The new ones are synthetically created by bombarding already existing elements with neutrons. Apparently, they're up to atomic no. 118, now:

The first periodic table was a effort by a Russian scientist to catalog elements into groups that showed similarities, and by atomic mass. This first table was a masterpiece, but there were spaces here and there. New elements were soon discovered that filled in the spaces, and in the twentieth century, many new man-made elements were synthesized in labs and fit at the end of the table. Who knows what lies ahead.

There have been many elements added since Mendeleev put the table tgether, and we are working on filling it at 118 elements

See the above answers, but just think . Wasn't it Lavoisier (not sure of the name,except I spelled it wrong){woo hoo sell checker knew how to spell it}, who made the periodic table in the 1700's or 1800's but the Curies discovered radium in the 1900's

No, this is wrong. Since the periodic table was created, there have been dozens of discoveries. The last one last month.

there have been loads added since the original was made. I think they just found/ syntesized one in a lab like last week actually.
