I think this song is about a relationship that has gone sour and emotionally checked out but they are still together but things are about to end but he is expressing how he feels before she physically leaves for good. Men are good for this - if they would only get it sooner!!!

I believe it deals with someone leaving the person that they really love and then soon realize that it was a big mistake and they want them back. They see that they mistreated the person and know that they want them back more than anything....such a great song!!!!!!
