So basically, working at my fast food establishment is very unsafe. Rats, roaches, always dirty, always slippery floors, I was almost electricuted once. So I filed a report with OSHA. People supported my decision. But now that OSHA is acting on my dispute, people are upset and angry at me. I have to go to work tomorrow and I haven't been there at all while this whole thing has happened. Should I quit? Or should I stay and see the changes made? What do I do with the people who harrass me?

You have provided a great service to your fellow workers and the consumers that patronize your restaurant. Everyone has the right to a safe workplace and the right to demand it. If it was easy, any clown could do it. Many workers have fought to make the American workplace safer for everyone, you have joined their ranks and should be very proud. Stick to your principles, study the whistleblower laws in your state and tell the OSHA rep, if you are treated unfairly. You have the right to appear at the inspection and receive a copy of the report. It may not be popular now, but you will be helping all the future workers at this company. Good Luck and Thank You!

Obviously you reported the business for a good reason and you care to some degree. If you are being harassed you need to bring that to someone's attention as well because that means there will probably be little chance of change and it will only be a matter of time before the whole establishment gets shut down. If those people cannot understand the benifits of running a proper establishment then it's not your problem. Although they are making it difficult for you to continue working there it is for the health of the overall business. Whether or not you should quit or stay is up to you. Quitting will result in a better work environment for you which is important but staying also means that you are dedicated to the business during this touch time. Is it worth it?

Verbal stuff let go. If anyone gets physical go to the police if your supervisor does not remove them from premises. Look fo a new job. Quit when you have something better. You have stirred things up (not that that is bad) but the upheaval is making people nervous, uncomfortable and unsure of what will happen next. This is unfortunately how they are handling the stress. If some of these people have direct responsibilty for conditions or are friends of those individuals they are feeling the heat. Good Luck The good news is you have standards and a conscience ... the bad news is you have standards and a conscience

Well you have done the right thing. The most important thing that the employer must do is to provide a safe and clean working environment for the workers.
If you resigned bcoz people is upset and angry with you, it shows that you are guilty of making such report to the authorities. You should stay and see if there is any improvement to the working condition being made after the report is being made. I think you just ignored those who harass you after the report being made. You will face such people in any organisation you go

Do you really NEED this job? If you do then stay. If the harrassment gets too bad you can file a complaint. If you don't need it it would be better for you to just quit. The stress is just so not worth it. I am sure you can get a better job. I was in a similar sittuation. I left and I am a lot happier now. I worked for the company for 10 years!

I think that you should try and stick it out. If you work at a well know chain and you do get harrassed then try reporting them to your boss or whoever is above them. Its good to know that people actually care about their workplace.

Screw your co-workers if they feel out - the patrons of that restaurant thank you. You did the right thing, even if it's not popular.
