ok well this might be a very very easy question but my sister wanted to ask this: if James got 8 million dollars for the first 3 weeks and 6 million for the next 4 weeks how much did he made in all i gave a the answer but she does not believe me so i need your help thank you for taking your time to answer my sisters question

Something seems to be missing in your problem.

Theres gotta be more to it because that is jusy too easy!

8M for the first three weeks
6M for the next four weeks

=14M in 7 weeks. James needs to invest and retire before he looses it! - Or share as some of you have said ;]

I get confused easily.

8 million plus 6 million is 14 million

but

3 weeks x 8 million
plus
4 weeks x 6 million
equals
48 million

8 million + 6 million = 14 million in 7 week period

Nothing in the question implies that James received the money per week, so multiplying 3 x 8 and 4 x 6 makes no sense. Simply add the two amounts 6M + 8M = 14M.

well if you add them then it would be 14 million but if you multiply them then it would be 48 million and if he makes either of them in that amount of time were the heck is he working at?
