A lab, because I know for sure labs are good dogs. Huskies have a reputation for being independent, plus a husky probably wouldn't survive the summer where I live. Though I like the way huskies look. I think they're pretty dogs.

Well I can tell you from experience. I currently own a Siberian Husky-I love him to pieces. Hes extremely energetic, happy, he "talks" (their breed isn't really a big on barking, they have their own unique noise)--However, unless you are willing to spend everyday vacuuming, I wouldn't recommend the husky to you. They also like to dig holes the size of their body. (Huskys who actually reside in say, Siberia where their is a ton of snow, dig the holes to protect themselves from the weather).
Many years ago we used to have a lab. They are great companion dogs. I didn't find that they were as energetic as the husky, however, both are great choices. I think you just need to look at the needs of both and what works for you best.

Labs have less hair, which means less grooming. Huskies are also escape artists. Labs are really easy to train because they are ALWAYS hungry. You have to be really careful though because Labs don't stop eating and you are going to have to be careful of how much you feed them. Both are large high energy dogs and are going to need a lot of time and attention. I hope you have evaluated how much time and energy you can put into a dog. They tend to live for about 10-14 years. I hope you have the time to put into them.

I think a husky, labs have a tendancy to smell like a dirty dog! Huskys dont have that. I did have a husky and he was the smartest dog ive seen. He was protective, loved water and fun to be with. Great dog!

They are better customed to climate changes, whereas a husky will have problems in warm weather with all that furr.

Labs are easier to train, while huskys, they have a tendency to turn on people. I had a husky and i was the only one who could go near it, but if its just you, then a husky makes a good friend.
