It's not that I can't get myself on stage so much that once I get there I'm afraid I'll fall on my face or something. I've done performances of other things like playing instruments, just not singing or acting.

The best advice I ever got about auditions is to treat the audition as if you're doing the auditors a favour, because actually, you are.

THEY want to put up a musical, right, so THEY need actors/singers. THEY'D be delighted if you were great on stage because it'll make their jobs easy. So they really need you to be there and of course you're going to help them out.

So all you need to do is to tell yourself you're helping people by singing on stage and you'll make everyone happy by doing a good job.

Just don't go getting any egos about it and you'll be fine. =)

Also, just before the audition, tell yourself only positive things. Don't say things like, "Please don't fall down and please don't do stupid things." You should say positive things like, "I'm a great singer and actress, I'm gonna go out there and sing my best and enjoy myself."

Good luck!

I feel the same way when i audition in front of alot of people.
Find someone you are close to and ask them to listen to you. Once you get comfortable to singing for 1 friend sing in front of more. Not only can you get used to singing in front of people but they could give you some pointers. once you do your audition concentrate on your song and try not to look at the judges faces. look in their general direction (concentrate someplace else like their ears it looks like your looking at their faces but you aren't). If you make it into a musical and are going to sing on stage it should be less frightening because you can't see the audience very well with the spolights. Just smile and relax and everything should go fine.

Find somebody who likes the way you sing and have them support you by going with you to an audition and sitting in the audience when you perform. I'm not talking about someone who wants to critique you, I'm talking about someone who wants to see you succeed and strengthen what works for you.

If you do a gig when a friend isn't there, when you go on stage, picture that friend in the back row just thinking you're wonderful and sing to that person only. It works!

singing and acting performances are much like "instrumental" ones. lol. in both, the audience is watching. the only way to get over this fear, like many is to face it. ofcourse yuo'll have the jitters, but if you are really enjoying what you're doing, you'll get over them. You need to learn how to laugh at yourself. If you fall on your face, it'd be preety funny, it'd be even less emberrassing if you could laugh about it too. But, chances are, you wont fall on your face, so dont worry! You'll do great.

Good luck!

Imagine you're a professional. Imagine that instead of you going to sing for a casting director, imagine a casting director coming to listen to you- as if they've paid for a ticket to watch you sing. Make yourself comfortable with a stage, platform, etc.

As for falling on your face? Be very calm and poised, lol. Don't jog up to where you're supposed to stand, don't make quick movements; be very relaxed, as if you're walking through a church.
