no its not painful when they break your water, its a bit uncomfortable though. labor is the painful part. but as soon as the baby comes out the pain goes away instantly. the best way to do it is force your screams into your stomach.. try to focus the energy you use for screaming into pushing, and it will be over quicker. let out a godd scream thru half a breathe and then grunt and push. best of luck, hope all goes well

When my doctor broke my water, it didn't hurt at all. I actually felt like it relieved some of the pressure. I remember telling my doctor how warm the water was. I would say don't worry about it, but it hasn't been that long since I had my little boy and I remember worrying about everything. Good luck with everything.

It's not painful at all, it kind of feels like you peed on yourself. Usually things move pretty fast after your water breaks for most people. Mine didn't but I had complications. The most important thing is to NOT listen to every-ones horror stories, you will be fine. I don't know why women like to scare the hell out of each other. You will forget all about any pain when you see your beautiful little miracle, trust me!!!!
Good luck, congratulations, and have fun being a new mommy. I love it!! My little girl is 6 months old!!

My water broke on it's own with my first 2. I actually heard a little POP. With my third, it had to be broken. No, it doesn't hurt. But lobor & delivery sure did!! Practice your breathing & concentration. That should help. Oh yeah, congrats! Hope the delivery goes quick & smooth.

Every pregnancy is different. If your strong and do your breathing exercises it helps more than you know. when you get a contraction don`t be afraid of the pain go with it as if you are one. It sounds weird but feeling the pain and breathing during a contraction is getting you closer to your delivery. Don`t watch the contraction monitor, they have this tendancy to hypmotize u

nope it's not painful... while i was in labor waiting for the time to come... my doctor broke my water bag because the interval is already 2 mins and its about time that i will give birth..it not painful especially if you will experience the contractions at that time..the painful is when nurses will check from time to time (I.E.)

When i had my water broke it was jsut a little pressure like a annual pap and then it was gushy and gross and jsut basically feels like you are peeing yourself without peeing.

It isn't painful at all. The only thing you feel is the water leaving you. Mostly it feels a little icky. ;-)
