I hope somebody that you are really close to comes up to you one day and says "I'm sorry, but I don't want to be seen with you. Go away." How would you feel about that? If she truly is your best friend, you wouldn't have this issue. It's sad she has such a vain friend. Stop taking friendship for granted, with your attitude, you're not going to have any friends in your future.

If you feel that way about her, she obviously is not really your BEST friend so you are not being honest with her about that. I think you will just hurt her feelings and I suspect you're not so perfect either. No one is and friends do sometimes become to enmeshed. If you do not communicate why you are actually "ashamed" with great tact, YOU will definately NOT be her best friend any longer. Course then at least she will know you are not playing with a full deck of cards. What in the world could she be doing that you would not want to even be seen with her? If you do not respect and care enough for her feelings to stand up for her, then do her a favor, and fade out gracefully. If you actually ARE her friend, then you may try focusing on a specific behavior she does rather than rejecting her as a person and address it by saying "I feel kind of embarrassed when _______ happens."

that's not a good idea. I feel the same way sometimes, when I've been around my best friend for too long. (She's kinda hyper sometimes and I'm very laid back so she can get annoying. Also, she's younger than me.) But, I always love her no matter what! And, because she's like my sis, i would never tell her. Its always better to be patient.

Why would you not want to be seen with her,if she is your best friend? Best friends should be able to do any and every thing together no matter what. You also might want to rethink your friendship and ask yourself is it worth telling her and hurting her feelings, you might lose her in process of telling her.

How can you even say she or he is your best friend? If they truly are your best friend you will accept that person for who they are. Maybe you do not appreciate the friendship that the two of you share.

With friends like you, who needs enemies? Seriously, though, you shouldn't be a total phonie. Maybe your not such a good friend after all, and that's okay, but don't lead them on like they can trust you. You should be real.

Not unless you want to lose your friendship. And what kind of friend are you that you would even have such a thought. Not a true friend.
