What are the actual knowledge, skills and attitudes that you expect your students to acquire through this unit? I suggest that you try to incorporate jumping into the different classes that you teach normally. You could try having a "Jumping Day" where in Language Arts the students read one of the books below and in math class they measure the distance that they can jump. In gym class they can jump rope and play hopscotch. If you've got time for a quick science lesson you can talk about frogs and kangaroos (assuming that fits with the curriculum at your grade level).

Hi,
There are numerous documented benefits and advantages of teaching children to read early on, and teaching them to reading using phonics and phonemic awareness instructions. It is clear that early language and reading ability development passes great benefits to the child as they progress through school at all grades, and that early language and reading problems can lead to learning problems later on in school.
