what does it mean for a cell membrane to be "selective", "permeate", and "selectively permeable"? please help me ASAP!!!

the cell membrane is selectively permeable, meaning that it only lets certain substances in and out of the cell. this keeps the cell clean and healthy inside.

well slective means only certain things and pereate is to go through(pardon my spelling) but a cell membrane is selectively permable means the membrane only lets certain things into or out of the cell
