Halo 2 Vista is for the PC, you can play THAT on your laptop when it's released early next year, assuming you are using the brand new operating system known as Windows Vista.
You cannot play Xbox formatted games on your laptop.

You will not be able to play the computer version against people using their xboxes, and access to Xbox LIVE is currently only accessible through an xbox. There has been conflicting reports about the multiplayer game selection methods.. There will be either a "live" kind of service, or it might have internet multiplayer searching built-in.. so you wouldn't NEED a system like Xbox Live to play multiplayer.
Currently, you can also get Halo 1 PC, and that one uses a built in multiplayer search function to play online. The requirements of Halo 1 PC aren't NEARLY as strong as the Vista requirements will be. I picked up a copy fairly cheaply on Ebay.

ook,
1. Yes, you need an x-box for x-box live
2. Halo, is basically a "killing aliens with awesome graphics" game. I personally am o.k. with it, don't worry about getting Halo in it's order. just get the latest one, it has the best graphics.
3. You can play Halo on a laptop, but I don't know whether or not you can use x-box live on the laptop
4. (I know the x-box 360 is more expensive but, I would buy it, it has more games on it, and it's easier to use)

If there are 12 year olds, mute them. For a good laugh look at their profile and see if Halo 3 is the only game they have. You will always meet random people. Go to ranked games for serious player.
