That depends on what type of book you like to read. To me, Phantom of the Opera is a must read. Wicked by Gregory Maguire is a great book as well. Angela Carter books are interesting also.

That really depends on what you're in to.
Give Shakespeare a try. His eloquence rubs off on you, and you suddenly start expressing yourself thrice as well with the art of wordplay.
If you're into fantasy, don't bother with TLofR, try the Robin Hobb series. Eragon and Eldest, by Christopher Paolini, are also highly recommended.
Artermis Fowl is always incredible. The Series of Unfortunate Events has recently concluded.
If you like samurai and ninjas, you might want to try the Tale of the Otori books, by Leanne Hearne (not quite sure how to spell her name).
Dan Brown's books are all fantastic, although highly controversial.
My advice is to just go to a library and look through the sorts of books you like, depending on genre. Even though I'm sixteen, I enjoy paying the kids section a visit, because all the greatest books are there, and entirely underrated. There's so much I want to read!

Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd
The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, The Last Enchantment by Mary Stewart.

It all depends what you like to read. I like adventure, mysteries, Nora Roberts, Kathy Reichs, Jack Higgins, Clive Cussler and the list goes on and on. For me as long as I can read, anything goes! Cheers!
