Publicity stunts are what the UN is all about... Who cares about third world nations? people who like being seen as humanists. Who doesn't? the UN... They are rooted deeply in diplomatic advancement but want so much for the world to see them as something worth paying attention to. They have an agenda entirely separate from saving the little man in the poorer countries. As a matter of fact, they are built on the exploitation of the same people they pretend to advocate. But being a cry out against inhumane treatment of the defenseless little guy gets them money and notoriety, two things they desperately want.

Because the united nations are like capitalist countries, set up to protect the interests of the rich people. For instance, if your country has an oil field owned by foreign rich people, and a local chap decides to overthrow the government and re write the terms, then the Americans and British phone the UN Secretary General ( Kofi Annan at home on top of wife) and tell him to call "An emergency Session". Get me so far?
All that Darfur stuff is because they already signed the oil deal with the rebel blacks and they dont want the terms re written. Guess why? The rebels dont even know what they signed. Even accepting 10% from the Sudanese government is a better deal than what they signed.

WEll, they don't just react when countries are third-world.
I think your refering to America in this instance.
The problem is that they did make a fuss, but America truned round & gave them reasons for their invasion. The UN are pretty powerless & always have been. Not to the exent of the League of Nations ever was, but damn close. The UN just say, "please don't do that. or we'll have to ask you again not too" I mean, honestly, how do you think the UN is going to impose economic sanctions on one of the most powerful economies in the world.
The reason it 'seems' to only make something when the counrty invading is a third world country, is that economic sanctions really work on them. America, hmmmm... not so much.

Good grief you are a bunch of Muppet's,
You have no concept of what the UN does or what the member states allow them to do. It's called the United Nations for a reason however it does not allow all the nations the same power. The USA has the right of Vito for everything. Instead of attacking an organisation that has done far more good than any other you should look at why they are not allowed to do more by certain member states.

Have you heard of the "Cold War?"
There's a unique set of checks and balances operating world-wide because of nukes.
Would you mess with a Pekinese or a Doberman?
