I know that depending on popularity, time depreciation and scarcity, some comic books wind up being worth a lot of money in the U.S. (like the first issue with Superman is something like 50,000 dollars or something). I'm wondering, do old issues of manga that are popular in the U.S. increase in value as well?

There's a lot more internet trading going on these days, so even in the US, you have access to an international market. If you have the right software (and know some basic Japanese and the keywords), you could even go on the Japanese version of eBay or Yahoo! Auctions and buy and sell there. So, in that sense, your old manga would go at the world rate.

Maybe that trickles down. I'm not sure what the value of Japanese manga translated into English is or will be.

But, let's face it, manga is certainly very beautiful. If the translations are well-done, there will be nostalgia for the manga later on. So, I'd bet on prices going up for the most popular releases. The less popular manga will be more of a gamble -- it just depends on how far manga penetrates American culture.

Well, first of all you should ask your self what you plan to do if you find one that is worth a lot of money and what it means to you. Second, duhhhhhhhhhhhh, just about everything old can be worth alot of money.

I would think so. Theres currently a hugely popular Japan-themed craze in America, so the best time to sell would probably be now or soon. ^_^
