There are two main ways to get from Austin to Houston. 290, from north Austin, which goes all the way to Houston. And, 71, from south Austin, to I-10, and then east into Houston. (I prefer the 290 route, but I know others who like 71/I-10 route because I-10 is a major highway). I believe the time is about the same for both routes, 3 hours.

Once in Houston, take I-45 South (I-10 and 290 both intersect with I-45).

Exit NASA Blvd, left/east, to get the Johnson Space Center.

290 to the 610 loop, 610 loop east to I-45, I-45 south to Nasa Road 1, turn left and go to the Space Center.
