I had a client last week to whom I was telling that I had a guy doing my house top to bottom. She expressed some interest in maybe having him do some work for her. Mind you, she is a gay woman who is extremely liberal. The first question she asked me was: "What is his ethnicity?" When I told her, she lost interest. Who is the racist here?

Interesting question. Republicans, in principle cherish small government and the freedom to expand economic activity. They will respect the citizen who is contributing to the economy, no matter what race he or she belongs to.
Democrats cherish big government and the idea of creating and maintaing a population dependent on the government.
In different ways, both Republicans and Democrats can be seen as racists.
There is another group much more dangerous than racists; the liberals. They discriminate against their own country

... I would argue that there are more racist Republicans than Democrats/liberals... but that doesn't mean they are exclusive to the party... I live in the south, and I know several racisit people, most are Republican, not all... but I think it's more of a conservative ideology issue... many old people grew up before the civil rights movement and the world has changed a lot... and elderly people are generally more conservative...
you seem to be assuming that all liberals are racist from your encounter, and that's exactly what the people are doing that say all Republicans are racist...

I'm a black democrat. When my family and friends discuss the incidence of racism, we do not focus on political affiliation. That's the least criteria for bias.
Our discusions are seeped in reality; we do not spend precious time figuring out someones political leanings, we will not have survived this long if we did.
.
We find the probability of racism depends on age, race and location of the perpetrator. We know from experience that mostly white Americans are racist toward us.
(Lately the rest of the world is catching up - use to be they did not care so much. But they bought it the way America sold it).

First, ethnicity is not race. She may be a bigot; but not necessarily a racist. Second, she may have had bad experiences with this particular group of people and, unfortunately, as lumped all of them together. For liberals to insist they are not, is just another lie they are telling themselves.

i totally agree that although democrats and liberals automatically point the finger at Republicans and conservatives, and anything Republicans do is highly publicised, but some Democrats are probably more racist in a different way.

Unfortunately there are racists on both sides. It's really very sad that people can treat other human beings of any race in a degrading way.

The patina of liberalism is just that: a cover.
When a person's race is weighed greater than their efforts, then the one doing the measuring is no doubt prejudiced.

Liberals/democrats simply ACT like they are all for the minorities just to get their votes. What have they done for minorities ever? Republicans are the ones that freed the slaves anyway.

well, obviously the client is racist. but it is not wrong to be racist. i think that racism is just love for one's race. i believe that segregation is wrong but we cannot judge people's feeling. we cannot conclude either one's beliefs and thought are right or wrong. every one cannot agree on one thing.
