I keep hearing people say negative things about donating blood. "Did you know they threw out 80% of your blood?...etc" No! They dont. I work for a hospital in florida and we cant keep enough blood on the shelves. My job, as a lab tech is to order blood from our suppling blood center (non for profit) and type and test. The blood center rarely fills my order. They are continuously "trimming" my order because they simply do not have it. I try and order 40 units of each type a day and I get maybe 10 of each. What do I hear when I ask peope why they dont donate? "Oh, they werent really doing anything special" or "They didnt have any good coupons". People, this is something that is so easily replaced by your own body and yet can give someone, a perfect stranger, a second chance at life. There is little to no effort on our part to donate. Go with friends if you need support. Dont let people tell you it gets wasted. If you hear it is, then your in a paying facility who uses it for makeup.

You bring up a very good question!!! God for you!!! This is such an important issue, but I am afraid I a big baby when it come to needles. One day I hope to get over my phobia enough where I could donate blood. ewwww..needles, just thinking of them makes me nervous. To all the people that do give blood, thank you. You are truly generous and brave, and I believe you earn a lot of good karma when you donate life to someone like that!!

Well, they had to quit paying people for it because of health risks--apparently, people who enjoyed selling blood for cash tended to be unsavory types who did risky things.

That said, I don't know. I've donated a couple of times, but I have some health issues right now that preclude me from donating. Anyway, I think it's a shame that people don't donate more--my parents refuse to donate blood and not for any good reason. I guess you can't force people to give up bodily fluids, even if they're easily replaced. People who donate, tend to donate regularly. People who don't donate practically never change their mind and become donors.

They should stop those stupid PSAs about how bad marijuana is and put some on about meth. They can use some PSA time for blood donation, too. It's certainly under-represented in the world of PSAs!

I'm grateful for people who did it. Donor blood saved my life three years ago. I will be able to donate in a couple months. (You're supposed to wait a year after getting a tattoo, right?) I don't care if they needed incentives or not. It involves needles, it takes time, you may feel a bit woozy afterwards. I need no incentive when I'm able, but some people need it, and that's okay.

Thank you for the PSA.

I don't need an incentive.

If for example, I'm having surgery and I don't need the blood that was taken from me for the surgery, well it is donated.

With that being said, blood is a life energy and my blood is the life energy of me.

If I knew it was going in the right hands always, then I would donate it.

But... lots of people in the Satanic Church work in the medical industry. And they use blood, even just a small vile, to preform rituals and they can also put a curse on you using your blood.

Don't believe me if you don't want to... but if you kept your eyes open for these people you would see them. They are in the medical industry.

I whole-heartedly agree with you. I will be honest, though; I only do it when they come to me. It has to be convenient. More employers need to set this up at their offices on a regular cycle. I actually tried this at my last company, but I was shot down. More people should donate blood; after all, you aren't even giving up any of your hard-earned money!

I dont know, I think giving blood is a good thing, it doesnt hurt me and it helps other people. But some people are uncomterbal with their blood just being given to random people.
