and each door has a guard sitting outside it.
these doors are your only means of getting out of the room. there is absolutely no other way to leave.
you know that one guard is an absolute liar, he will never tell the truth no matter what.
the other guard is always truthful, in fact he can not tell a lie ever to you or anyone else.
you will be allowed to ask one question only, and you can only ask that one question to one guard.
you do not know which guard is the liar and which tells the truth.
what would your one question and your response be?

I'd ask guard A what guard B would say to the question "Which is the door to freedom?" and then choose the opposite door.

There is guaranteed to be one lie so I know to choose the other door.

I would ask one of the guards if the other tells the truth. No matter what the other guard will say that he doesn't, the gruards begin to argue and then fight. While the guards are fighting and not paying atention you sneak through one of the doors.

Free at last!

There are actually two answers.

1. Ask a guard "if I were to ask the OTHER guard if his door lets me out what would he say"? If you get a yes, go out the door of the guard you asked the question of. If you get a no, go out the OTHER door.

2. Ask "If I were to ask you if this door will let me out what would you say?". Then you have the correct answer.

Looks like I might be SOL. I guess I'd just pick one and tell him the building is on fire. If it is the liar he'll believe anything and think of himself only and make a run for it., if it is the truthfull one he will insist on escorting me out of the building. If that doesn't work I guess I'll just have to stay in there I guess!

after he aswers, you punch him. then you'll know if he told the truth or not, and you'll know who's who.

I would ask, Can I please leave? The response would be, Sure, I don't know why they put you there anyways.
