Try His and Her Circumstances (Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou)

Synopsis:
Miyazawa Yukino is the perfect student. Kind, intelligent, pretty and modest, it's unbelievable that such a person could exist. Little did everyone know Yukino's perfection was just a facade. An act to fulfill her desire for praise and admiration. Her life took a turn however, as a newcomer to their school Arima Soichiro topped the exam rankings. Arima is more then just intelligent, he's also kind, handsome and modest, an unbelievable person who can actually exist. Even worse luck, Arima found out Yukino's secret, blackmailing her to help him out. Their odd relationship soon develops into friendship and eventually into love. But can their love prevail through the many problems that come their way?

This was one of the first romance anime I had ever watched, as aside from the fact that it is unfinished and the "ending" leaves you hanging and disappointed, up until then everything is pretty good! It is very romantic from, like, the second episode on, and I am sure you will like it.

Super romantic... I like Utena and even Sailor Moon. They're not cheesy and are very romantic with the base of the story... They might not be your cup of tea though but i thought I'd at least make the suggestion.

Fruits Basket: the most romantic anime I've ever seen. There's sad moments and funny moments, and plenty of happy or touching moments. It's based off of a manga, which runs longer than the anime adaptation. I'm sure others have already answered with Fruits Basket, but it's about a girl named Tohru Honda who falls in with the prince of the local high school, Yuki Sohma. As strange and funnily twisted events unfold, she becomes wrapped up in the mysterious and rather dark affairs of the Sohma family, and knows more and more about their curse. It's a really good anime. Almost made me cry *sniff* u_u

There's also DNA 2 (that's DNA squared), which is a sci-fi romantic comedy about a boy named Junta Momonari (I think that's how it's spelled 1_1) and he's allergic to girls. Literally. If he gets too intimately close to a girl, he gets sick and throws up. Thus, he has a little trouble getting a girl friend, and because of this he isn't the most popular kid in his high school (I think he's in high school). But then this woman from the future named Karin arrives in the past to find Junta and kill him! When they meet, Junta realizes that he has no allergic reactions with her! Of course, nor does he have allergic reactions with a girl he's known since they were very little....um...I forgot her name! >_<
argh. Oh well, it's not important. ^_^ Anyway, Karin was sent to the past to terminate Junta because in the future he becomes what is known as the Mega Playboy, a man who had dazzling babe-attracting skills like no other, abilities (and perhaps looks as well) that would make any girl he looks at fall in love with. He must be stopped, but Karin slowly has feelings towards him, and vise versa as well. It's a very good series, with sci-fi elements, romance, and comedy all beautifully tied together into a memorable anime.

There's also Tenchi Muyo, which has an equivalent combination of elements: romance, comedy, and sci-fi. A high school students Tenchi Masaki disobeys his father's orders not to enter their family's sacred Masaki shrine, and by doing so he uninentionally releases a demon that has been sealed in the shrine for...erm...well, I forgot the exact year, but let's just say...for a long long time! ^_^'' So anyway, Tenchi runs from the shrine in a panic, not knowing what happened to the demon. Just as he begins to believe that it was all a dream, he encounters the demon on the roof of his school, where he had accidentally slept till after school hours. But the demon is now a young human-looking woman (quite pretty, as well). It turns out that she's the legendary space pirate Ryoko and she was trapped on Earth after a heated battle. So, to get revenge on the Masaki family for sealing her up, she tries to kill Tenchi. But then she ends up falling in love with him (it's sort of sudden and the transition from hate to love is kinda undefined). But anyway, more "aliens" from outer space (they're normal humans, in truth) arrive on Earth, one by one, and before Tenchi knows it, he's living with (about) 7 'foreign hotties,' as they are described in the anime, and they're all from space. Tenchi Muyo is truly a great and memorable series, known (or should be known as) one of the best anime out there. Every true anime fan knows Tenchi Muyo well (though there are at least 5 or 6 series, each one completely separate from the others). The first one to ever come out is the Tenchi Muyo OVA (or OAV). Then came Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo, the 3 Tenchi movies, Tenchi Muyo GXP (with every main character replaced by completely different ones), and the second half of the Tenchi Muyo OVA (finally, after 8 years! >_<) I highly recommend Tenchi Muyo to anyone who wants a good, good anime.

I hope this helps. ^_^

P.S. check out Ranma 1/2 (I don't wanna explain a whole nother one!! >_<) Wikipedia.com it. That should give you plenty of info ^_^
